  1. While you were working at BB, and in the time when you started blowing the whistle (not sure what to call it), did you theorise on any ways that man-made optilucent clouds could have a negative effect on the environment? Can these ‘ice-clouds’ be reversed
    I also heard you mention a ’simultaneous launch’. If the geo-engineering and cloud thingies are both done at the same time, would there be a risk of overshooting the mark?

  2. Hey Ethan.
    Definitely, there are big risks of overshooting the mark. The basics of atmospheric science may be solid, but intervention with the atmosphere is a completely different story. Couple to that the fact that models are no substitute for reality and it all equals Caution to me.
    In terms of noctilucent clouds – no, I haven’t done enough research to know the potential for negative impacts. That’s one of the reasons I’m so worried that the research might be used – it was nothing more than an idea and as far as possible from ready to be implemented.
