While you were working at BB, and in the time when you started blowing the whistle (not sure what to call it), did you theorise on any ways that man-made optilucent clouds could have a negative effect on the environment? Can these ‘ice-clouds’ be reversed
I also heard you mention a ’simultaneous launch’. If the geo-engineering and cloud thingies are both done at the same time, would there be a risk of overshooting the mark? -

Hey Ethan.
Definitely, there are big risks of overshooting the mark. The basics of atmospheric science may be solid, but intervention with the atmosphere is a completely different story. Couple to that the fact that models are no substitute for reality and it all equals Caution to me.
In terms of noctilucent clouds – no, I haven’t done enough research to know the potential for negative impacts. That’s one of the reasons I’m so worried that the research might be used – it was nothing more than an idea and as far as possible from ready to be implemented.
